(CURRENCY.) Fractional currency shield with mounted specimen notes. Engraving, 24 x 20 1/2 inches, printed in gray on stiff board, with 39 mounted specimen notes, many of them signed by Treasury Department officials; edges quite worn with slight loss to the printed portions of the shield, several long closed tears affecting 8 of the notes, the whole laid down on archival paper and stabilized, remnants of 4 extra notes which had been added in the upper margins and then removed, minor dampstaining and soiling.
