(CUSTER, GEORGE ARMSTRONG.) Small piece of a guidon purported to have been found on the battlefield the day after Little Big Horn, mounted to a note which details the finding of the flag [see below]. The guidon, red and white, approximately 2x2 inches. The note, 1 page, single 8vo sheet; a bit toned. Np, 1876

The note reads: "In memory of Genrl G. A. Custer and soldiers who was killed June 27th 1876. This is a piece of a guidon taking [sic] of the Battle field the next day by Sargeant O Stair belonging to one of the Companys that was with Major Reno at the little Big horn fight in Montana. Try may they rest in Peace. The drumbs may rool [?] the carbun may rattle no more shall they call our hero to battle."
