A selection of 63 spectacular cyanotypes documenting the construction of a vast trestle bridge in the southern French countryside near Carmaux, and comprising views of the day-by-day building of the foundations, trestles and spans, through the various seasons. Cyanotypes, approximately 8 3/4x11 1/4 inches (22.2x28.6 cm.), and the reverse, nearly all with dates, some by hand, in pencil or in ink, but more frequently in the negative, some also captioned in the negative, Société de Construction des Batignelles, and 2 with a caption, in pencil, in French, on verso; most with a strip of paper mounted to the top of the print verso. 1899-1902
