Additional Details

Featuring Cyprus and issued in the year the island was invaded by the Ottomans. The waters around Cyprus are pictured teeming with Venetian ships; those waters would soon play host to a series of naval battles, most famously the Battle of Lepanto in 1571. This map was evidently reduced from the anonymous Italian plan, Cyprus que olim (Macharia), which is also in this sale. Navari 19 ("very rare"); Stylianou 38; Zacharakis 1602.
