Additional Details

A prospectus for the proposed engraving of John Trumbull's painting, Declaration of Independence. It includes a printed list of signers depicted in the painting.

The painting was commissioned in 1817 and purchased by the government in 1819. It was made more famous and accessible by the engraving, accomplished by Asher B. Durand in 1820. The University of Virginia holds a similar prospectus in two-page format, of which Swann also sold an example in 2019. However, we find none of this broadside version in OCLC, and none at auction.
