Probably the prettiest of the many different printings of the Declaration we have offered at Swann. Italian artist Nestore Leoni reimagined the text as a richly illuminated medieval manuscript on two sheets, with illustrated borders featuring the state seals and two dozen historical vignettes showing scenes from the early colonial period through 1776. The copyright was issued to bookseller George D. Sproul, Leoni's partner in the publication. Not in Bidwell.
