Additional Details

Wilhelm August Fröbel was the pioneer of early childhood education and founder of the first Kindergarten in 1837. These educational notebooks, based on his teaching principles, were used in classrooms as far-ranging as London, Canada, Germany, and the United States. The lessons, known as Fröbel's "Gifts and Occupations" explore the concepts of shapes and objects (such as paper, string, balls, cubes, lines, points, etc.), known as "gifts" and the ways in which they could be manipulated, which he called "occupations."
The creator of this workbook on weaving is listed as Assistant Librarian in Topeka, Kansas, at the Kansas State Library.
