scarce, full set of hand-worked architectural postcards. Perhaps best known for designing both the Belgian Pavilions at the Universal Exhibition in Milan and the Venice Biennale of Fine Arts in 1906, Sneyers was a rare designer and architect whose talents spanned the Art Nouveau, Secessionist, and Art Nouveau movements in his native Belgium and throughout Europe and the United States. Having studied under Paul Hankar, and influenced by Otto Wagner and Joseph Maria Olbrich, he developed his own unique Vienna Secession-style of architecture and design. Between 1900 and 1914, he created the interior design and furniture store, "L'Intérieur," in Belgium. There, he designed everything from wallpaper, book illustration, posters, advertisements, and postcards, including this set, which features modern regional architecture. In them, one can see his adherence to his characteristic Art Nouveau Geometric form, a more stylistic, formal and restrained design and ornamentation than the highly decorative style of his peers.
