Additional Details

An attractively bound biography of Dickens enhanced by the marginal comments by Ollier, a contemporary historian, journalist, and friend of Dickens. He contributed poetry and prose to "Household Words" and his father had known Dickens while employed at publisher Richard Bently, who printed Oliver Twist. Ollier mentions that it was at his father's urging that Dickens lengthen the work from a short story to a 3-volume novel. Other notes include edits to details and dates, and comments about where and how Dickens mentions Ollier in the book.
