Additional Details

James Bryce (1838-1922) was a British historian who gained attention in 1888 for his book "The American Commonwealth." He served as the British ambassador to the United States from 1907 to 1913; this bust was commissioned at the end of his posting. He became the 1st Viscount Bryce shortly after his return to England.

The bust was created by Henry Kirke Bush-Brown (1857-1935), known for his equestrian statues at Gettysburg.
