Additional Details

American Secretary of State Henry Kissinger played a controversial role in the 1974 partition of the island nation of Cyprus into ethnic Greek and Turkish-held regions. As a diplomat told the New York Times on 19 August 1974, "It was a hardheaded decision, taken by hardheaded people. America had to lose one friend or the other and they chose to lose Greece." This satirical poster, with text in Greek and English, describes Kissinger as a 52-year-old Secretary of State, suggesting a publication date of 1975 or 1976, although the imprint line reads "Minima, Solonos 83." Kissinger is described as having a "criminal record, Greece, Middle East, Chile, Latin America, Cyprus," and we are urged "Caution: any information concerning this person, please contact the Cypriots. Reward, a free Cyprus."
