A later edition of the 1649 Cambridge Platform, called by Sabin "the text-book of New England Congregationalism." It established the principle of self-government for local congregations. The original manuscript for this work was in the hand of Richard Mather, though John Cotton is generally given credit as co-author. The 1680 Confession of Faith follows with a separate title page.
