Additional Details

In addition to books, pamphlets, and government documents, Franklin also printed legal forms. This example is completed as a grant to Simon Ironberg for 50 acres in Allemingle, Northampton County.

This form is not recorded in Miller, "Benjamin Franklin's Philadelphia Printing." However, Miller does record similar warrant forms which Franklin produced regularly for the Proprietaries from 1731 to 1748, in several batches of 200 or 300 or 500 each: for example, for Surveyor General William Parsons in May 1741 and May 1745, and for Surveyor General Nicholas Scull in November 1748, under his new partnership of Franklin & Hall (entries A152, A198 and A203). This batch was likely produced shortly after Nicholas Scull became Surveyor General in 1746.
