Additional Details

This sermon was apparently inspired by the Great Comet of 1680, which is discussed on the final page. Willard connects "the desolating Judgements by water and fire, with which God hath, and intends to cleanse the World" with "the terrible inundation that the Low-Countryes lately smarted under; and which was looked upon as one awful consequent of the late formidable Blazing Star." Printing in Boston began only in 1675. Evans 336; Sabin 104081. ESTC lists only 6 library holdings; not noted at auction since 18 April 1921, when another copy brought $200 at Anderson.
