An oration on the death of one of Harvard's first great benefactors, Thomas Hollis; the library's catalog is still named in his honor. The author was the first holder of the Hollis Chair of Mathematics and Natural Philosophy at Harvard. His discourse surveys the recent advances in natural history made by Isaac Newton (pages 5-7) and reflects on the constant changes taking place in the world. It is also sometimes found bound with Edward Wigglesworth's "The Blessedness of the Dead who Die in the Lord," another sermon delivered on the same occasion. Evans 3426; Sabin 28689.
