Additional Details

Arthur Bedou (1882-1966) served as the official photographer for Booker T. Washington and the Tuskegee Institute for several years, through Washington's death in 1915. Two of these images show students working in the Institute's spacious carpentry machine shop, 1907 and 1911. The other shows construction workers laying a foundation, and is captioned "Beginning the new power plant." The power plant was completed in 1915.
