The Malcolm-King Harlem College Extension was founded in 1968 with just 14 students and swiftly grew to an enrollment of more than 600. They initially featured volunteer instructors and open tuition-free enrollment for all high school graduates. They were supported by Fordham University, Marymount Manhattan College, and the College of Mount Saint Vincent, but closed their doors in 1989.
