Additional Details

These slides and the accompanying lecture notes were apparently part of a series of talks on Tuskegee Institute prepared for the use of the Chicago school superintendent. Most of the slides were produced by the Stereoptican Film Exchange in Chicago probably between 1901 and 1910. They include many images of Booker T. Washington, as well as images of students in the various workshops of the school. Images of the various buildings, as well as the fields show both the "industrial," as well as the "agricultural" aspect of the school. A number of portraits of African Americans, including one of Frederick Douglass as well as other unidentified individuals, accomapny the Tuskegee images.
