Additional Details

A detailed map of the Battle of Waterloo, done by a Florentine officer in Napoleon's army. The original map was printed in French, and was issued with an overlay flap for the central part of the battle, showing the forces as they were arrayed in the morning and then toward the end of the battle. This copy was reissued for a Dutch audience with printed overlaid Dutch headline and side captions.
The original French title, by which the map is more generally known, is faintly visible underneath the top overlay: "Bataille de Waterloo, Gagnée par les Armées Anglaise et Prussienne aux ordres du Duc de Wellington et du Prince Blucher sur l'armée Française commandée par Napoléon Bonaparte le 18 Juin 1815." No other copies have been traced of this Dutch version in WorldCat or Karlsruhe.
