TO JOAN CRAWFORD: "YOU ARE SO FAR SUPERIOR IN" BEING GLAMOROUS (ENTERTAINERS.) DAVIS, BETTE. Autograph Letter Signed, "Bette," to Joan Crawford ("Dear Joan"), in green ink, thanking for her letter, giving travel plans, expecting the "box office" to work again in the future, explaining that she does not intend to play the character of Charlotte as a glamorous woman [in Hush...Hush, Sweet Charlotte (1964)], supposing that it would be a happy change for Crawford to play a glamorous character in Charlotte [her role in What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962) was not glamorous; Crawford was ultimately unable to perform in Charlotte due to illness], and stating that Crawford is far more glamorous than herself. 4 pages, 8vo, "Honeysuckle Hill" stationery, onionskin paper; horizontal folds. [Los Angeles, 1964]

Additional Details

"Thank you for your special delivery letter. I will be in the east while you are en route to San Francisco and Honolulu. . . .
"As regards being glamorous--I felt when I read the treatment of 'Charlotte' you would be happiest this time around--because you
could be glamorous--which you always have been--and was difficult for you in Jane. Quite frankly I am not playing Charlotte as a glamorous woman--you are so far superior in this department.
"Will see you in may."
