Additional Details

The "Annual Colored Fair" was launched in the 1890s in Tasley on Virginia's Eastern Shore, and continued into the 1960s. It was a well-known attraction featuring horse racing, carnival rides, agricultural competitions, and performances.

This postcard is addressed to Rosa Moaning of Trenton, NJ, who is listed in the 1940 census as a Negro domestic worker. Her friend Marnie reports: "I wished you were down. It is little different from what it was last year."
