Additional Details

This event was held at Rochester's Labor Lyceum, and was sponsored by a weekly newspaper called the Hotel Tattler, a Black-owned hotel trade publication in New York City. This program features a menu, full-page photos of the two musical acts ("Rochester's 4 Kings of Harmony Quartette" and "Cash's Syncopators, Rochester's Premiere Musicians"), photos of two women dancing at the event and of the Tattler's two local contributing editors, numerous local ads, and a short summary of the event.

Sissle and Blake's hugely popular 1921 musical "Shuffle Along" was on tour through Rochester at this time. The production sent a couple of cast members over to judge the fashion show and dance contest.
