These papers show sustained efforts to organize the independent Black-owned businesses which flourished during the disco era. Included are organizations with three different names, which were apparently related.

First Independent Owners Caucus. Meeting agenda and attendee list. Washington, 19 June 1978.

International Association of Black Owned Discos and Cabarets. Invitation form letter, meeting agenda, and list of special guests, all November 1978. Also an undated memorandum on the association's proposed "participation with the Black Music Association."

World Association of Black Club Owners. Manuscript draft of a letter to members, March 1982; 3 draft versions of an application form; 4 lists of members or potential members.

Also included are two folders of miscellaneous memoranda, business cards, and member lists, 1981-1983 and undated; promotion packet for the Leviticus International club and The Best Of Friends club promoters, including an organizational chart, and 6 photos; the 1980 membership list of the Nzingha Society (a group of Black women in communications); and the program for the Black Music Association 2nd Annual Conference, 1980.
