Additional Details

The successful white promoter Sam T. Jack launched the Creole Burlesque Company in 1890, and it toured nationally through 1897. It is considered to be the first burlesque company starring African-American women. Interspersed among the songs (text only) are numerous riddles and quips which might be considered typical of the company's performances. None traced in OCLC or at auction, though another example illustrates Jack's page on Wikipedia.
