Additional Details

"The Broken Earth" was a 17-minute short film by "race film" purveyors Sack Amusements, starring Clarence Muse as a sharecropper who seeks divine intervention for his dying son. The film was largely forgotten until 1983, when a print was found in a Texas warehouse along with other films for Black audiences. The films were presented by Ossie Davis in a three-day Black Film Festival in Dallas in 1984. "The Broken Earth" was then screened frequently in art theaters through at least 2007. No other examples traced in OCLC or at auction.
