Additional Details

Oscar Micheaux was America's first successful Black film director and producer, with 42 films to his credit from 1919 to 1948. "The Girl from Chicago" was one of his more successful works. Set in Mississippi and Harlem, it featured a damsel in distress rescued from a crime boss by an undercover agent.

The title photograph is laid down on the mount, and bears an inked stamp on verso from a later poster retailer. The others are inserted into hand-cut slits at the corners and pasted into place on verso at the corners with bits of Micheaux advertising circulars.
