"Look! This is What You've Been Waitin' For, Featuring this Famous Dancing, Singing and Entertaining Recording Orchestra: Dance." Poster, 18 x 11 inches; minor wear and soiling, short repaired tear, unrelated manuscript note on verso. An advertisement for a performance by the popular Kansas City-based swing jazz act, the Original Eleven Clouds of Joy (as named in a banner hanging above the orchestra in their photograph). Originally known as the Dark Clouds of Joy, and later as the Twelve Clouds of Joy, they were led by saxophonist Andrew Dewey Kirk (1898-1992), and continued touring through 1948. "Dance! With Virginia Raven's Orchestra." Poster, 14 x 22 inches; moderate wear and dampstaining, faint inked stamp in blank area, a few short repaired tears and a bit of infilling. Virginia Raven's Orchestra performed at dances and on radio shows throughout the Midwest from about 1925 through 1932. This poster features three photographs of the act, which included eight musicians, a singer, and an entertainer. Collinsville, IL, 7 March 1925.
