Additional Details

The bandleader, arranger, and pianist Fletcher Henderson (1897-1952) is shown with 11 bandmates in matching suits posed on an Atlantic City boardwalk, an image later used on the cover of the album "La Storia del Jazz: Fletcher Henderson and His Connie's Inn Orchestra." The caption inscribed on verso was copied from Bill Grauer's 1966 "Pictorial History of Jazz," page 107. It names the band members, most notably Henderson seated third from the right; and trumpet player Erskine Hawkins standing second from left.
