The key figures in this collection are Eugene P. Daniels (1861-1931) and wife Rebecca Jett (1866-1919), pecan farmers of Concordia Parish, LA; their daughter Eva B. Daniels Wells Simon (1894-1953) of Houston, TX; and her daughter Jessie M. Wells Adams (1917-1997) who attended Howard University and remained in the north. She went on to marry publisher Alger Leroy Adams (see lot 200) and was a founder of the Westchester County, NY chapter of Jack and Jill of America.
