Additional Details

Antonio Lopez (1943-1987) was a Puerto Rican fashion illustrator and icon. Credited with discovering Jessica Lange, Grace Jones, and Jerry Hall, he became a close associate of fellow designer Karl Lagerfeld. His works frequently appeared in Harper's Bazaar, Elle, Andy Warhol's Interview magazine, and Vogue. From the 60s to the 80s, Lopez's vibrant illustrations ranged from Pop art to psychedelic to surreal. Towards the end of his life he began working on campaigns for Versace, Valentino, and Yves Saint Laurent. His life and work was recently celebrated in the retrospective "Antonio Lopez: Future Funk Fashion" at El Museo del Barrio in New York (June 14, 2016-November 27, 2016.)
