Gordon Parks received a Cine Golden Eagle Award for his film version of Solomon Northup''s authentic slave narrative, Twelve Years a Slave, originally published in 1855. Northup''s escape carried him from Savannah to New Orleans to freedom in upstate New York. This scrap book was assembled by Ted Watkins, one of the camera-men for the film.
