Arthur J.A. "Tex" Charwate (1879-?) was a screenwriter in the early days of American film. This collection includes 2 contracts with the Goldwyn Pictures Corporation for Charwate's screenplays, both signed by Charwate and Samuel Goldwyn (as "Goldfish") August 1918. The first, Her Heart Guard, has a typed carbon scenario appended, and was apparently not filmed. The second, Southern Pride, has a full typed carbon script appended, and was filmed later that year as The Racing Strain.
Also included are 5 additional typed scripts, undated 9 Library of Congress copyright cards, 1909-24 A 1930 letter to Charwate 40 photographs of showgirls, many inscribed to Charwate Cabinet photograph of Charwate in football regalia 3 folders of newspaper clippings from 1906 onward, many of them by or about Charwate.
