Album containing 95 photographs depicting the proud members of Portland, Oregon's Fire Department., comprising approximately 90 real photo postcards, 3 smaller snapshots, one used color postcard, and a photomontage. The images depict aspects of life as a first responder in Portland: the crews shoot pool, play cards, and read the paper while waiting for the inevitable bell to sound. Many of the (postally unused) photo postcards include annotations in the negative identifying the firefighters and locations. Silver prints, 5 1/2x3 1/2 inches (14x8.9 cm.), and smaller, each is cornered and mounted recto/verso. Oblong small folio, brown and red cloth, with a photographic title mounted to the front cover; with photographs mounted to the inside front and rear covers, the last with the photographer's credit. 1914-17
