Additional Details

The publisher's file of correspondence dating from May 11, 1948, to October 24, 1962. Includes over 70 typewritten letters from Mizener to Houghton Mifflin editor Paul Brooks, discussing such topics as publishing dilemmas (Scribner's nearly brought a lawsuit regarding the timing of publication), deadlines, royalties and topics for future biographies (on the prescience of writing about Hemingway: "Would it not be better to put off this project until H dies--one hopes conveniently soon!--rather than contemplate it as an immediate affair.") Other letters are written by Fitzgerald friend, agent, and executor Harold Ober, Judge John Biggs, editor/publishers William Targ and Edward Weeks, and several others. an interesting and unique piece of fitzgerald scholarship.
