Additional Details

These photographs show the early years of the planned community at Oldsmar, FL at the northern tip of Tampa Bay on the Gulf Coast. It was founded by automotive industrialist R.E. Olds in 1916.

Nine of the images show the Oldsmar delegation to a 1918 parade in nearby Tarpon Springs, including a grown man dressed as the infant "Willie Oldsmar" to represent the state's newest town (as described in the 23 February 1918 Tampa Morning Tribune). Other views include new construction and agricultural scenes including orange grove workers. Among the captioned images are Oldsmar's Kardell Tractor Plant and the newly laid out Park View Boulevard.
