Fore-edge painting on Volume 1 is a view of Halifax; Volume 2 shows a view of York. Both paintings are very clear, detailed, and colorful, though gold has been partially rubbed away. The book itself is interesting in that the first American edition, published the same year in Worcester, Mass. by Isiah Thomas, was the first American book printed on wove paper.
