Additional Details

Little information is available on this suite of plates. Some bibliographers date them to the 17th century, while most others date them to the 18th century. The style of dress pictured suggests the second half of the 18th century. Lewine, in his 1898 Bibliography of Eighteenth Century Art and Illustration, page 194, notes that the suite was reissued with the images in reverse. These prints are clearly examples of the reissue, though not on the bluish paper suggested by Lewine. They clearly date to the late 18th century.
