(FRENCH & INDIAN WAR.) A Full, Clear, and Succinct Discussion of the Preliminary Articles of Peace . . . By an Eminent Citizen. 20 pages. 4to, disbound; minor toning and foxing. London, [1763]

Additional Details

A scarce printing and discussion of the preliminary version of the 1763 Treaty of Paris which ended the French & Indian War and ceded Canada, Cape Breton and Nova Scotia to the British. Of interest is the anonymous author's comments regarding Article VI of the treaty, which confirms the French right to the region West of the Mississippi (in exchange for free navigation on the river): "where lies the true source of that river? I may venture to say, that it is as yet unknown; so that by the manner in which this article is conceived, it amounts to no more than this; that there is a place somewhere that may be called the source of the Mississippi, and this place, when found out, is to be our boundary . . ."
