(FRENCH ART DECO--LES ETAINS D'ART DU CHEVALIER)
An album with 47 photographs of Art Deco objects with relief design.
Neatly presented objects (mostly vases and lamps) in a form of catalogue with descriptions, inventory numbers, dimensions, and prices in French in a stylized handwriting in ink, the album offers a great example on how the Art Deco style manifested in the decorative arts by presenting a diverse selection of highly crafted quality objects. The album shows vases crafted by Lucien and Louis Houzeau for "Les Etains d'Art du Chevalier," a factory that specialized in producing pewter vases, but also comprises other Art Deco objects, such as lamps, cigar boxes, lampshades, also made in pewter, by French sculptors and designers, such as Noel Collet, Alexandre Prevot, Albert Ermenault, and Andre Villien. Silver prints, the images measuring 3¾x6⅛ inches (9.5x15.6 cm.), and the reverse, and slightly larger, mounted recto/verso, each with numeric notations, and some with descriptive keywords, dimensions, or prices in ink, on print recto. Small oblong 4to, red leatherette, lightly worn; tied binding. Circa 1910s-30s
