A group of 40 Farm Security Administration-era photographs depicting the resettlement of farmers in the Western United States. Includes 5 photographs by Dorothea Lange of a community project at El Monte, California. Also with Arthur Rothstein (12), Russell Lee (6), John Vachon (6), Fischer (2), and Carl Mydans (one); most of the remaining are from Acme News Pictures. Silver prints, the images measuring 6 1/2x8 1/2 to 7 1/2x9 1/2 inches (16.5x21.6 to 19.1x24.1 cm.), and the reverse, the sheets 9x7 to 8x10 inches (22.9x17.8 to 20.3x25.4 cm.), four with notations, in ink or grease pencil, on recto; each with various notations, often including a title or RA number, in pencil, some with a mounted caption label or typed caption information, each with an N.E.A. hand stamp, and the rest with either a Resettlement Administration Photograph credit hand stamp, an F.S.A. credit hand stamp, or an Acme News Pictures hand stamp (6), on verso. 1930s
