(GLOBE SHOE COMPANY)
Album with 45 photographs depicting activities at a footwear manufacturing firm. The photographs respectfully present a product that relied on both artisanal and industrial skills and depict immigrant workers and behind-the-scenes views of the secretarial pool, executive offices, and maintenance operations. The prints focus on the labor pool and depict banks of men and women at sewing machines, men at work benches upon which are uncut strips of leather, and others in suits and ties before baskets of shoe leather and soles, as well as women posing with rows of shoes on standing shelving units, and boxed pairs of shoe ready to be shipped. Silver prints, 5 1/2x7 3/4 inches (14x19.7 cm.), mounted on recto. Oblong 4to, leatherette, gouge on front cover (at bottom edge) and lower edge of mounts (not affecting photographs). Circa 1910
