Alexandre Sabès Pétion (1770-1818) served as president of Haiti from 1807 until his death. Highlights of this collection include: "Decret du Senat, Portant decharge du Compte rendu par l'Administrateur general des Finances." Illustrated broadside, 12 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches; moderate worming, worn and stained in margins without loss of text. Port-au-Prince, 5 November 1813 Document Signed by Petion on his letterhead, agreeing to pay the debts of the late General Metellus, who had died on the field of battle. Port-au-Prince, 9 August 1814 Requisition signed by future president Jean-Pierre Boyer to pay four salt mine workers, 31 December 1814 Pay order signed by Petion for the same salt miners, on his letterhead, 31 December 1814 and 26 other administrative documents signed by Petion from 1810 until shortly before his 1818 death, most on printed letterhead.
