It is unclear whether this promotional piece was issued with letterpress preliminaries. The twin-screw vessel had a short service for the German line, as it was seized during the World War I by the United States and turned over to Great Britain. After the war the vessel was ceded to Japan and entered N.Y.K. service as the "Taiyo Maru." She was sunk by an American submarine in May 1942.
