A thick album of approximately 110 photographs compiled by a U.S. Navy sailor, featuring photographs by official Naval photographer Tai Sing Loo.
The photographs chronicle life in Hawaii, including native Hawaiians producing Tapa, fishing, and ploughing paddy fields; photographs of naval ships and the Hawaiian landscape; sailors touring Hawaii and participating in leisure activities, such as a coconut milk contest; and one print of Tai Sing Loo posed at the edge of Halemaumau Crater. Silver prints, the images measuring 6 3/4x4 3/4 inches (17.1x12.1 cm.), and smaller, and the reverse, approximately 40 with Tai Sing Loo's credit, inventory number, and/or title, in the negative, and some with descriptions, in ink, on recto.
