Second issue; at least one copy has "1852" on the title page, though the wrappers all apparently read 1853. Gulick was the son of a Hawaiian missionary, and was then serving as a missionary to Micronesia. He wrote this sermon on Ascension Island in September 1852, but dedicates it to the Hawaiian Mission Children's Society. Forbes 1918; Treasures of Hawaiian History 66; none traced at auction.
