A preface describes this as "a play about the very early and formative years of the great American scientist, George Washington Carver . . . and of the house in which he lived." It begins at the Missouri plantation owned by Moses Carver in March 1865.

The title page notes "Copyright September 1954, revision copyright, Feb. 1955." It appears in the Catalog of Copyright Entries with a 3 March 1955 date, although it was never published. The author Robert De Leon Twiggs, Jr. (1920-2006) was in Arkansas in 1941, and served in the Navy in WWII. He graduated from Howard (BA in 1948) and University of Iowa (MA in 1950), acted off Broadway, and in 1964 was teaching drama at Citrus College in California. He moved on to Delta College in 1967, and published "Pan-African Language in the Western Hemisphere" in 1974.
