Additional Details

Photographer Herman Rubin's wonderful photographs richly evoke Hollywood's Golden Era, when the movie theatre was seen as a movie palace. Depression-era social aspirations or erotic fantasies were played out by larger-than-life theatrical figures on the big screen. Promotional set ups for "The Scarlett Empress," "The Devil is a Woman," "Robin Hood," "They Gave Him a Gun," "Petrified Forest," "Bullets and Ballots," and "Treasure Island" are some of the feature films depicted.
