Additional Details

Attractive and uncommon map demonstrating the intent of the British to colonize the Honduran island, an important strategic location in the Caribbean during the eighteenth century. The top description panel offers great superlatives designed to entice potential colonists to settle this island: a healthy quality of life with plenty of wild game and fish, rich and fertile soil for agriculture, copious timber to build with, and excellent harbors with proximity to trade opportunities. The topography of the island is decorated with trees and hilltops and appears as pristine as the explanation makes it out to be.
