(HOUDINI, HARRY.) Kellar, Harry. Important Autograph Letter Signed to Houdini,<> wherein Kellar asks Houdini to accompany him to the home of Dr. Hooker for a presentation of Hooker's famous card rise trick. 2 pages, 8vo; on Hotel Astor letterhead. New York, 24 September 1916

Additional Details

Important letter involving the two leading figures in magic of the day, hoping to see one of the very few performances of Dr. Hooker's card rise illusion. Kellar thought the occasion important enough that he was willing to cancel a previous engagement in order to be mystified. It is not known whether Houdini and Kellar made it on that day. But both men did certainly see the trick performed at some time. Hooker's large collection of magic related materials was given to the New York Public Library. The secret of the card rise was divulged by Hooker only to Kellar and Kellar never disclosed the secret. See lot for Hooker's SAM membership card Signed by Houdini.<
