John Reynolds (1788-1865) discusses coming to the Illinois frontier as a child in 1800, his service as governor from 1830 to 1834, and more. 4 chapters are devoted to the Mormons in Illinois. Also discusses his early childhood and later law studies in Tennessee. 400 copies were printed, but 300 of them burned in the Chicago fire.
